After months and months of planning [and spending] one of the biggest days of Cora and Ras’ life is now over….

On Saturday, May 1. 2010, two individuals became one… and I was there to witness the entire day first hand.

When Cora asked me to be apart of her wedding party, I did not know all that it entitled but was excited about the journey that I was going to be on. From picking a dress and shoes, to listening and talking with the bride to be about her plans, planning a bridal shower, and then being asked to be Maid of Honor… what an experience I’ve had. The time, effort, and love that I put into everything was worth it all.

One Hot Maid of Honor

Hearing from a mother that the things that I did were not in vain, but likely appreciated felt good [each time we talked...] My kindness and thoughtful was seen and its something that would make me smile from ear to ear…

This “gig” was not easy… it was alot of work! I was there for Cora whenever need be… holding her dress, helping her into her dress, fixing her something to drink, fixing her hair, fanning her to cool her down from the hot, talking with her and reminiscing about the things that we have been through… all that and everything in between.

At the end of the day, everything turned out great… and we looked great too!

Well, until the next wedding…

P.S. I have to show some love to my cousin L for being the best wedding date ever… Love you!! [thanks for going on those errand runs for me… you are the greatest!!

It’s the night before the wedding…and I’m so excited! Nervous about what I will say tomorrow though. Hopefully I will fine the right words.

Rehearsal dinner was great! We had a blast! I was all dolled up…in green [as you can see below]!

Dinner was at California Dreaming [and yes those croissants were off the chain!]… It was good to see and meet everyone that was in the wedding party [well at least those that were available to make the dinner... the groom's side was having a few troubles... lol...]

There was this guy at the restaurant that was singing live…. so we had to get him to do some special requests for the married couple-to-be… (plus putting a few dollars in his tip jar helped get things going too!)

More pictures of the big day tomorrow….

Goodnight…

Sorry for the last update on the bridal shower! I have been crazy busy seen then with too much going on… Nevertheless, the shower was great! It wasn’t the full weekend experience that I was going for…but just a full day that Saturday was alot of fun!

The night before, I stayed up working on the games, programs, and decorations…&& baking! [I made cupcakes and cookies--everyone loved them (or at least, that's what they said)] So needless to say, it was a Red Bull kind of day for me! There was so much to do between events and packing and unpacking everything, that I totally forgot to take pictures of all the decorations before everyone got there… and when I finally thought about taking some photos, my camera was dead! UGH! But there were people there with working cameras, so moments were captured… now I have to get those pictures from them so that I can complete a scrapbook for the bride…

Speaking of the bride-to-be, she loved it and her mom did too! It felt good to make someone’s day… I put alot of time and love into this event and I believed that it showed…

I’m loving this event planning/hosting stuff… maybe I should start looking into ways to master it, gain some additional skills, and start a side hustle as an event planner…. Hmmm… How much would you pay for my services?

Besides updating you guys on the shower, I wanted to share some good news… I gotta promotion!! I was asked to be the Maid of Honor today!! YAY!! I believe that this new position within the bridal party requires more from me than just a bridesmaid…but I’m ready for the work–bring it on!

xoxoxo

Well… the bridal shower is less than two days away && I’m super nervous about it! There are about 15 people coming to the shower [including the bride's mother]… so I truly want this event to be a success!!

With that being said, I am starting to two guess everything… my choice of prizes, gift bags, favors, events, etc. etc. So I think that I will be up late for the next few days putting everything together![Pray for me!]

Every time I start talking about the shower, everyone wants to know if I am the maid of honor…. since that’s the way it should be done according to some unofficial official rule book…. well, sorry to disappoint you and break the laws of this ‘handbook’… but I’m not–just a bridesmaid helping a friend enjoy her bridal experience… Hopefully, when its my turn… I will have friends willing to do the same for me… whether its suppose to be their assigned duty or not! [&& I exhale... ;-) ]

Regardless of all the political stuff…. I hope that everyone enjoys themselves && have a great time this weekend…

Back to work I go…

Its less than a month from the bridal shower && I am getting a bit nervous… Since I’m hosting it, want it to be a great experience for the bride and those attending. Focusing on the shower has been hard with everything that’s going on with me personally… but I will pass through and get things done!

The bride and attendees are excited about the shower and surrounding events…. so I have to make time this week to get a to-do list together to ensure that I don’t miss anything! I don’t want people coming all the way to Charleston and be disappointed…[OMG, the pressure!! I pray that I can delivery...]

I just remembered that I need to RSVP… I will fill you guys in on that list of things to do before the shower later…I gotta to that reservastion for the wedding NOW!! [Wanna be my date?? ;-) ]

xoxoxo

I’ve been working hard on this bridal shower for the bride-to-be the last few weeks… I have the games locked down for the shower and program for those attending to have for the event. I got some other supplies for the shower as well… I love planning and coordinating events [plus the shopping for them is FUN--to me always]. This is my second event–the first was my friend’s birthday party… I was intense but very exciting…. Maybe I should make this event planning into a side hustle… [well depending on how this bridal shower goes anyways...]

This week, I am working on the invites that will be mailed out… I know that I have to jazz them up a bit… still thinking about how to do that and not put too much money into it… [look for an update on what I come up with]…

Well, let me get back to work…

xoxoxo

You will be happy to know that I am back on my duties as a bridesmaid!!

The bride-to-be asked me to host her bridal shower here in the Charleston area… and boy am I excited! It does add some pressure… because I want things to go smooth and for it to be an event that she will look back on and :-) … I have help from another bridesmaid, so I am not all alone on this project… or the pressure!!

So, the agenda for the shower is in place and the evites are out… Now we just need games, foods, decorations, giveaways, etc. etc. etc. Good thing we have a month or so to work on it…

If you have any ideas, let me know…

xoxoxo

Boy, have I been M.I.A. from my duties as a bridesmaid…but with school and work I haven’t had much time to focus on the wedding. There’s about three months until Cora’s big day! I have a dress and shoes… Now I have to help coordinate the night before the wedding… Why did I volunteer for this?? The couple are looking to lock things down by the end of the month and I have nothing to present to them as an option!! After my last assignments are completing, this wedding will be my focus… I don’t want to make the bride-to-be upset!

Pray that I make it through this week, so I can get back to being a bridesmaid!

xoxoxo

Its been a while yet I wrote… been so busy with work, school, the frat, baby showers, weddings, Christmas shopping, TN trip, birthday planning… OMG! Do you think that it’s over??… Heck NO! I have two more weeks of class left, so I have to go hard and get focused!

I have some things to tell you about my adventures of being a bridesmaid… should be able to share them with you all soon…

Well, back to work I go!! Miss me tons!!

&& check out this throwback from Toni Braxton…

Sorry for posting this so late… but I thought that I would still share some highlights of the journey to my Frat Brother’s Wedding last month…

Leave it to me to try to see and spend time with my mother and father before heading to the wedding… three words: ONE LONG WEEKEND!!

Good thing I picked a date–my favorite ninja puppy/friend/frat brother–that would make the trip worthwhile!

Before receiving my invitation to the wedding, I’d never heard of Chester before… after driving what seemed like forever to the church [which was great] I see why this town was not on my radar… We passed horses and cows and other farm animals [that I can't recall at the moment]… some with no fencing–free to roam the land i guess! LOL!

With the clock ticking and the endless drive to the church–WE MADE IT! [Just before the bride [my frat brother/line brother] was going in]

Beautiful!!

&& Yes–we were late, but there were others waiting to go in as well…

Long story short–we were not allowed into the wedding to be seated [just the ability to look through the glass]… && you know I was pissed–so pissed that I slipped and cursed in the House of the Lord [had to ask for his forgiveness]!

But all in all, from what I could see and hear the ceremony was great! Plus I was asked to be apart of another frat brother’s wedding that day as a bridesmaid [the tales I'm bloggin' about every week]… && I got to hang out with ninja puppy… S!!

Maybe I can visit Chester [South Carolina] under less stressful times… and take in the scenery… hmmm yeah… ;-)
